Hey,

This might be somewhat of a stupid noob question. I had my cpu overclocked and it was stable under IBT and Prime stress testing.

Now I got a new gpu and reinstalled my os. All the other components are the same. Should I do new stress tests?

Cheers,

You're fine w/o doing it. However it's recommended to stress test after any major upgrade (like GPU), though it'll likely yield the same results.

Re-test the CPU? not really, but won't hurt if you have the time for it, what you should stress test is the GPU just to ensure you didn't get a faulty one.

No it is not needed because there is hardly any change which warrants the stress testing of CPU. Just stress test your new GPU at its stock speed and see if it holds out.

New GPU won't affect your overclocked CPU.

It's possible that a new more power hungry GPU might cause the voltage "strength" to drop a bit. If you were boarder line before, a stronger GPU might draw so much the CPU no longer gets enough. Without knowing pre and after specs it's hard to say. You should be fine, but if something odd starts up you know to start testing.

Good point but in that case effective role would be of the PSU. OP should have good PSU.

Good plays a part, but even a good one might have issues. I have a good 450W unit. If my OC'd CPU needs 200W, and my old GPU only drew 200W, then I'm right at the line counting the rest of the system. But if I upgrade my OC'd 7850 for a 280X, and now I need 300W, I've exceeded what my good PSU is rated to output. As above, without knowing system specs we can only (poorly) guess. He'll probably be ok. Though it's possible was my only point.

It is a very important point sir. Agreed with it. Hopefully, OP has considered about the PSU.

Hey,

I have a 650 watt PSU. A 8320 cpu and a gtx770 gpu. Think its good.

Wish I could pick all of the above as 'the solution' lol, since you more or less agree.

Thanks!!

Unless you've a poor quality one, (please specify the model), you're good wattage wise. Anyways, glad to help :)

It's Corsair VS 650. A 3rd grade (?) psu. Not the best, but not a bad one either, right?

Not the worst too, its a budget PSU and if it managed your old GPU (again, specify please) it should do the current one too.
