I have a Motorola/Arris SURFboard Modem and Wi-Fi Router; N200|N300 Dual Band; Model Number: SBG6580. I have had this problem for the past few weeks that started up about a week after we started using the router. I have tried multiple times to unplug the router and let it sit for anywhere from 30 seconds to 15 minutes and it only seems to solve the problem for a few hours at most. The problem is this, when using a Wi-Fi connection on a Windows laptop, Windows Tablet, or a cell phone (both iPhone 5 and Samsung S4), after a few hours the device will be able to connect to the router (phone shows it's connected, laptop shows the 5 bars at the bottom but with a yellow error triangle) but I can not connect to the internet. When looking through the laptop and tablet network map it shows that I am connected to the router but the router is not connected to the internet, and the cellphone doesn't show any problem I am just simply unable to load anything using the internet. However, when I plug in a Ethernet cable to my laptop from the router I can connect to the internet just fine, so I know my router isn't disconnecting from the provider.

If lan always works, and all wifi devices experience the same problem then it is an issue in the router with bridging the wifi and wan adapters (wan for your purposes is the connetion to ISP for internet).

Nothing you can do but replace router.

I really dislike the combo modem/routers because they are 95% of the time a barley decent modem and a barely decent router combined into one device with a high probability of something going bad in it. While for $20 more you could get a good standalone modem and a good router, and if something goes bad or you need to upgrade, you only need to do it for one $60 device not a $100 combo device.
