I need a little clarification...I have 32 bit windows 7 installed on my laptop and want to install 64 bit windows 8.1 from dvd that I purchased. My computer is 64 bit capable. I get an error message when I put the 64 bit DVD in that the current version of windows doesn't match the architecture of 64 bit installation media. Any way I can install 64 bit? Without a lot of steps or time? Does it make that much of a difference if I'm using computers for general, household/school use? None of our computers are working right now! I've purchased three copies of windows 8.1 & have separate issues with each computer that I'll be posting for answers.
Thanks.

in order to install the 64 bit os you need to boot straight from the windows 8.1 installation disc via the bios .. you cant jump from 32bit to 64 bit inside windows so this is the only way of getting to the 64bit windows 8.1.. do you know how to boot from the dvd drive ?
