I still have Steel Series Siberia V2's with an external soundcard, but they just aren't that great too me. I heard my friend's cheaper Logitech G430's and they sounded a LOT better and only cost him $60
Luckily, I can still get a pretty penny for my V2 and the external soundcard. Why do people like these so much, I had no idea how mediocre they were all this time...
I'm looking for a great wired headset for both 7.1 surround gaming and also good for hearing music. I am not a basshead, I am looking for very clear and pronounced sounds. Those Logitech G430's sounded great, but they are old as well.
So, any recommendations on new headsets? No to Razer or Turtlebeach, but most Other brands I will consider. Looking at under $130 or so, preferably around $100
I am keeping an eye on these:

and these just came out... but can I trust steel series again?

I do like the comfort of the steel series, but even with the V2's 50mm drivers, it just sounds gross and plain, with very little sound range...
Any nice headsets that sound good and aren't uncomfortable with those mesh cuffs like alienware, Corsair, and Logitech use in the stereotypical headset...
