Hello,
I've recently been trying to do an image backup of Windows 8.1 on my laptop. But, when I'm trying to do so, it recognises my external WD HDD as a system drive, and doesn't let me uncheck the option to back it up. My problem is that I need to leave it plugged because I want to do my backup on this hard drive. I even tried, after backing it up, formatting my hard drive, but it would still recognise it as a system drive. I really don't know why it does this, I've not set it to use ReadyBoost or any other option (such as the continuous file backup).

Does anyone have any idea on what could cause this ?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hi there MrEnderkiller,

You can check out what is the boot order in your BIOS. You can do that in the following way: http://www.howtogeek.com/129815/beginner-geek-how-to-ch...
What software are you using? Have you tried this process on another PC? Eventually, you can try imaging with another one.

Hope this will help,
