GTX 950ti worth the wait?

So Ive got around $350 to spend (Here in SA $350 buys a lot less than in the US keep in mind)

Ive been looking at the GTX 750ti as a decent card for a 1080p monitor at 'ok' settings. Now the low end 900 series should be launching sometime in October which includes the 960 and the 950. Would a good idea for me be to wait for the release of the GTX 950/960 and possibly save for one of those if its not too much over my budget or just to go ahead and get the 750ti?

The only reason I would get the 750ti would be because I have a 'low-end' 450W Zixaa PSU, which I dont really want to test the limits of and the 750ti only requires a 350W. Should I upgrade now with the 750, or wait and get a 950/960 and upgrade my PSU if needed?

I do game a hell of a lot so decent framerates at mid-high settings would be a preference to me but money is the issue.

GTX750Ti and GTX750 are already Maxell GM107 cards on the 28nm process. They might re-release this architecture on the 20nm process, basically a power and clock frequency improvement, so nothing wrong with getting a 750Ti now.

20nm? seriously?

Yes, that is what TSMC is ramping up to switch to, primary manufacturer for almost every GPU these days. AMD's 300 series is supposed to be on 20nm, along with the Nvidia's Maxwell / (Which was supposed to have already been on 20nm, but TSMC delayed it)

Toshiba has 19nm flash fabs, A lot of companies are using 20 and 22nm processes for RAM and Flash. Intel has their 14nm process kicking out ultrabook/laptop chips already, desktop Broadwell expected in Q2 2015.

GTX750 and GTX750Ti were basically proof of concept designs. GM107 is basically the 'consumer' class GPU. GM204 is the 'enthusiast' class, and GM210, either 20nm or 28nm will be the 'workstation/professional' GPU. Not sure I have heard news on what/when things like the GTX980Ti or a Titan 2 will be released, but you can bet it will be around the release of AMD's 300 series, which is towards the end of the year, but perhaps not. Usually takes a while for them to bin up chips to do dual GPU setups as well, so a GTX990 probably won't be anytime soon.

Nvidia has changed their mind a few times in the last couple of months on what features their roadmap will have. And once I pick a GPU (GTX980) I tend to stop following it too closely until I am ready for an upgrade.

950 will have same architecture as 750 ti but will have twice the power so it's worth the wait for people facing similar choice now....950 ti will be better than GTX 760 but will consume 1/2 power...

I've heard that there is a rumored 950 that will be launched in march....No idea how reliable the information is....and I replied to the thread just in case someone was looking at older threads for answers...

From what I've heard, if there's even gonna be a 950 and 950 Ti, they will just be rebranded 750's and 750 Ti's.

The "950" you were talking about however, sounds like the next GTX 960, which is now rumoured (due to leaked specs) to be only about 10% faster than the GTX 760 but using much less power. So if that's the case (and assuming it's still on the 28nm process), chances are it's gonna cost around 190-200 dollars, and that they will soon release a 960 Ti as well to fill the gap between 960 and 970.
The rumours are probably correct, as Nvidia's releasing the 960 would hurt AMD's cards around that same price mark - the 270(x) and 280(x) - even if it won't be much faster, as it will consume a lot less power and run quieter and cooler. I think AMD has to come with a response real soon, the 270 and 280 are very old now, basically they're pumped up 7800 and 7900 series which are nearly 3 years old already...

It looks that way....There's no need to replace 750's unless AMD comes up with better alternative....I'm now waiting for 960 now because it's essentially priced between 750ti and 760.....Will my CPU bottleneck the card because i got the cheap cpu when building my PC...My CPU is i3 4130....

We have established this.. There is no GTX 950ti. The GTX 750ti is basically the 950ti. It is the same.

So should I buy the GTX 750Ti instead of waiting for the 950?

There will be no 950! The 950 is the 750.

There could be a GTX 950/950ti in Pascal in 2016 because go Back to 2012 with the introduction of Kepler it had the GTX 650ti and 650. The GTX 750ti and 750 came with Maxwell 1st Gen with was only used in the lower end cards so we Skipped a whole year! (2013). In 2010 Nvidia introduced Fermi it had the GTS 450,There was no GTX 550 but there was a 555 and 550ti but in 2012 they brought the 650. In 2013 the GTX 760, 780,770 were announced, there were no other GPUs due for 2013 but in late 2013 Nvidia Annnounced the GTX 780ti. So there can be a HUGE SUPRISE later this year with the 16nm for Maxwell, it can feature the GTX 950ti and 950. Just keep your fingers crossed :)

The 750Ti is the Maxwell card for this new series even though it is labeled a 700 series name. It should be given a 900 series like the newer Maxwell series cards but it is the card you want. I pumps out some nice performance for the extremely low power consumption it requires. Check out how it handles BF4 at 1080p on low through ultra settings...

Either Nvidia will rebrand it, or they will take the design and put it on a new process node. If the process shrinks and they add a few design revisions they could label it as a new card with little effort. Exactly as they did with the GTX680 and GTX770, same GPU, minor revisions, some overclocking, and faster memory. Even more prevalent with low end cards.

950 Ti is coming out soon, and is looking promising.
It is a slightly cut down version of the GTX 960 from what I can see.

You look pretty silly now. This is why I never try to predict the future; I see things like this everywhere.

We all look silly when we follow rumours. I think I said some really crazy things about the R9 300 series before I realised I was just spouting hype and fantasy.

About whether its going to be better than the 750 Ti, theoretically the 950 should be better, with more shading units etc., but we won't know for sure until we see benchmarks. 750 Ti was a popular and massively efficient card for its size and power draw.
A cut down GTX 960 (which is what the 950 is) may not beat it.
