im planning on building a gaming rig, should i get a AMD cpu or Intel? would it affect the game much? i want to play games like battlefield, the new dragon age the witcher and guild wars 2 at 60fps+ if possible(but 45 to 55 doesnt bother me)

im thinking about the AMD FX-8320 3.50 GHz Eight-Core AM3+ CPU 6MB L2 Cache & Turbo Core Technology

i already got the graphics card in mind, and i know its mostly about the card, i just want to know if getting this cpu over a intel will affect my playing.

Solution
The 8320 works well for BF4, better than Intel chips at the same price, but for most other games it has weaker performance. I would go with the AMD simply for a lower price. The 8320 is a great chip for the price, as it is the same basic chip as the 8350, allowing you to overclock to 8350 speeds without many issues. The price difference will also let you get a good cooler for higher overclocks.

so in terms of fps.. what would you say would be the difference? 5? 10? aslong as i can run those games (i mean i know dragon age aint out) on 45+ fps on like highest setting i'll be happy(i know its mostly about the graphics card tho)

and what exactly is overclocking?

You could probably get 5-10 FPS out of it, definitely worth it. It would run those games on ultra. Overclocking is fairly simple, but you do need adequate cooling. Basically, you go into your BIOS and change some settings to make your processor run faster at the cost of more heat generation. For example, I have an 8320 overclocked to 4.4ghz, from the base clock of 3.5ghz.

I have the FX 8350 with 2 770 gtx's. I push around 95 fps with lows to 69 fps. I really think the cpu is great but I expected more out of it even though I oc'ed it to 4.6ghz
