So lately I've heard a lot about forcing alternate frame rendering 1 and 2, as well as split frame rendering, and I was just wondering what one would improve FPS, or if I should just leave it as default.

More about : alternate frame rendering sli

Force Alternate Frame rendering, for me, came up with the launch of the Metro Redux games; they didn't, at first, support SLI (not sure about CrossFire) so one of the remedies was to use AFR 2 (AFR1 made the game perform even worse). This was a good solution for most people as both cards were used and framerates generally went up a bit.
About the time this remedy was found Nvidia released a profile in their GeForce Experience program that solved the problem and I switched back to "Nvidia Recommended".
Depending upon the game or reason you want to try it, it can have mixed results. Early on in SLI's development and use I used it and it benefited me, but not in all games. RAGE is one game where it was a detriment. RAGE did not/does not support SLI; this was pretty discouraging as it is a fun game but I felt it would be better with 2 cards so I tried AFR 1 & 2. My frame rates dropped (!!) by about 40-50%.
Play around with it, it is worth the time, but don't be surprised if the results are less-then-stunning.
