With all the options out there for memory, I'm not entirely sure on the ram I've settled for as a first time builder. My main use for this computer will be gaming, not so much content creation or video rendering.
What are some of the better sticks out there and/or what frequency is appropriate for my needs? Appreciate all the recommendations and help guys!

MOBO: Asus ROG Hero Maximus VII
RAM: G. Skill trident X series (16GB) 2133

G. Skill, Corsair, Crucial, you might want to go with DDR3-2400 but what you have there should be pretty good.

Higher the speed, faster the stick, lower the CL, tighter (better) the stick. But this ratio is not that even. Faster memory will always benefit more than tigher ones. We're not considering 1600/10 vs 1866/11 here btw.

So, 2133MHz/CL9 Trident X would be great, and good for OCing the CPU too, 2400MHz/CL10 are not any higher in price, but might require some OCing on CPU part for optimum use otherwise the timings would be loose.

Precisely, any stick with 1600MHz or higher speed and CL9 (upto 2133Mhz) or CL10 (up from 2400MHz) would be sweet :)

I'd stick w/ the Tridents, it's a great choice, will give you a few extra FPS in gaming and will shine even more when on the web, doing Video, etc

^Same, Tridents are great sticks both on stock and for OCing, besides being cheaper than Veng Pro.
