hey guys .

lets say your game is capable of running over 100 FPS . but your monitor is 60Hz . that means all you can see is 60FPS of it no matter you have your vsync enabled or disabled .

so whats the point of using or not using VSYNC ? why do some people prefer to leave it off ?

Vsync increases input lag.

This is also why G-sync and Adaptive Sync have been developed. They allow you to get the benefit of Vsync (no tearing) without the drawback.

Running over 60fps on a 60fps monitor causes screen tearing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_tearing
VSync eliminates that, but may cause some mouse lag.
What I do - run the game with vsync off and check the average FPS. If its consistently above 60, turn on vsync, otherwise leave it off.
