I go on Newegg to read the reviews/experiences people have with the product, and it's always split with 5 stars being the most, and 1 star reviews being the second most. There's literally no board that has 2 stars, 3 stars, or 4 stars as the runner-up (for the more reviewed products), it's always 1 star reviews (and most are valid complaints and not having to do with dumb stuff like shipping)

How's a newbie to wade through this?

Here are some boards I was considering:

I was looking at the Maximus hero series, but then I read that alot of people are having issues with the BIOS...

Edit - actually the z97 LGA 1150 has 4 as the second-most.. but whatever, I'm at the job and it's hard to do research when you're supposed to be working.

Solution
When you read the review, don't go to the newegg to read the user review, you have to read the professional review. Like http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/MAXIMUS_VII_HERO/

When I want to buy the pc components I always read the reviews first and make up the mind which part you want and how you pay for it, then set up the budget or limit. Also you can go to http://pcpartpicker.com/ because you can find the lowest price from one few click. Good luck.

For other site like:
