My laptop is connected to my TV via HDMI cable. I stream movies and it usually works. I am trying to stream movies via Amazon Prime and while the video works on my laptop it doesn't work on the TV. The screen just keeps showing the buffering sign. Uninstalled and reinstalled Silverlight as well as all my browsers. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance!

Need more information.

Are you extending desktop or cloning it?

Hi Ron,

I have done a Ctrl+F5 so the screen display is off and only the TV is being used as a screen.

I don't know why but try this...

Go to power options and make it turn off the display when you close the lid (while plugged in). Close the lid then try

Thanks Ron!

Tried it. Still not working :-( Might be worth mentioning- the video works perfectly on the laptop, but as soon as the HDMI cable is connected it just goes back to the blank window with the buffering sign.

Another thing- do you think it could be the HDMI cable as I never get any sound output on the TV with it

If I could be there we would probably figure it out but its hard otherwise..

Have you tried another browser? Either chrome or firefox

Try extending the desktop to the TV (leave laptop screen on), then completely reopen the browser or whatever amazon prime uses to stream.

And about the sound - you need to go to Sound>Playback Devices, then click something like HDMI out and set it as the default device

I will try to do that. I will also buy another HDMI cable and try it with that. Will let you know how I get on in a couple of days. Thanks a lot for the suggestions! Have a good night :)

Honestly just sounds like a compatibility/software issue caused by amazon prime or your TV. Make a trial account of netflix and see if that works? Remember to cancel it though or they charge you after a month or so.

Really dont think its the cable but doesnt hurt to try (i think its amazon or your TV)
