is the amd a10-7850k a good cpu

Solution
If you're going with a discrete graphics card, there is no reason to go with an AMD APU processor. The FX-8350 would be ok, but I'd probably look towards a higher-end Intel CoreI3 or modest CoreI5 processor.

If you have an NVIDIA card, buying an a10 is not a good idea. APU is having both GPU and CPU bundled in to a same package, as long as you have a dedicated GPU in your system, the GPU inside the APU (chip) will not be used.
And in your case, you cannot even crossfire it, as you are having an NVIDIA gpu.
If you had a compatible AMD GPU, couldve been better. Cz, you should be able to crossfire both and get most of both CPU and GPU.
So going for a 8350 or 8320 would be Good.

Im using an 8320 with R9 280, tell date im playing allmost all the games in Ultra (everytihng in highest setting) and I am getting 45+ fps even for the most demanding games.
If you are concerned about TDP of CPU, you can go with new FX 8370E (3.3Ghz) and 8320E (3.2GHz) both are having 95W TDP.
If you have more than enough cash, go with Intel. Bt comparing price/Performance ratio, ill reccmned AMD.

in any case if you have a discrete gpu apu's are a bad choice the cpu portion is really weak and the steamroller architecture no longer overclock like the bulldozer in fx series cpu's where mostly any of the m is able to get another ghz on top of the base clock, if you want to go with amd go for fx series although the architecture is more than 2 years old by now, and the platform is pretty much dead meaning there will be no upgrades available for it, or go intel i5 for better cpu performance, especially if you plan on playing any mmo's there simply isnt enough performance in amd cores for those games
