Hi, the last two days while gaming, my GPU started overheating after about 4 mins of running the game, then my computer will completely turn off. I've been able to play games for years on this computer and it just started doing this, what would cause it and what are ways I could fix it? Thanks in advance for any advice. BTW it does this in any game I play that I've been able to play before without problems.

Go buy some compressed air and start blasting dust.

Check to make sure all the fans are working.

I've sprayed it with aerosol and cleaned it out, fan is working, still overheating.

When I'm not gaming the GPU is at around 68 degrees. When I'm in a game it goes up to 104 and crashes.

That's already too high for idle temps.

You can always try taking off the GPU heatsink/fan and replacing the thermal paste.

Ya that's what I was thinking was my only option, but I was hoping not because I don't have a store near me that sells it lol.

So I replaced the thermal compound and it's still overheating...

What card is this?

I'd be very suspicious of a fan that's not running at the proper speed.

This used to happen all the time when I played MW2 on my Windows 7 Gateway and then I got a cooling pad for it which actually stopped it from Overheating. If U have a laptop then buy yourself a Cooling Pad. If U have a desktop then check to make sure the fans in the back are working and not full of dust or just plainly dirty. Also try to keep your PC near air conditioning.
