So, I just ordered all the parts for a gaming PC I'm building, and I thought I got a R9 280 (NOT the 280x!!) Well, after I ordered all the parts, I was bored and have been chomping at the bit to get my PC parts and build the <mod edit> already, so I got bored and decided to watch some more benchmarks and all of that on my graphics card. Well, here is my confusion. The card I ordered, in the title on Newegg, says it's just a R9 280, and not a 280x, but the card DOES NOT look like the 280, it looks exactly like the 280x. Here is a link to the card I got, tell me, what one is this?

They all look incredibly similar if not identical. MSI 270X 280 & 280X

If you are comparing MSI R9 280 with MSI R9 280x then they probably look the same cause MSI uses the Same cooler for them.

I'm curious, what do you think is a better card? The 280 or the 280x? I may return the 280 and get the 280x, but I don't know. Any thoughts?

R9-280x is the better card, and the one I have in the link has 6gb of RAM. If you can Afford it the R9-290 is the Price/Performance tip of the Iceberg. Once you try to go beyond that point the amount of performance you get is hard to justify the price tag.

EDIT: If you are gonna get the R9-280x you might as well get the R9-290 cause they are the same price, Chances are you wont need the 6GB of VRAM the R9-280x has. The R9-290's 4GB is Enough and is a more "Beastly Card"

How large of a power supply would I need to run the 290? Also, would this processor work with it?

Drop the Extra $50 and grab This CPU. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Without knowing the rest of your setup I did a PSU Calc, and I made sure I left enough head room for errors, a 600w PSU should be fine.

Seasonic makes fantastic PSU's. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Edit: If you already have athe FX-6300 it is a fine CPU and should be ok.
