I switched cases for my computer and it was working fine with the old case, I also changed the power supply. The computer worked fine in the old case with the power supply. But after changing cases the computer turns on, stays on for like 20 minutes top and then just shuts off, as if it is over heating but it isn't. The power supply was a 575 wat but it was only actually pulling like 430. So I figured it wasn't powerful enough. So I just ordered and received a new power supply today. It is a 750 watt Ultra brand power supply. I figured I had been running the same rig on a 650 power supply in the old case that 750 would be plenty of wattage. Well needless to say I installed it into my desktop and it turned on and worked for about 20 minutes and and boom, shut down again. Most of the components in the case are about 6 years old except the video card. I just had gotten that a year or so ago. If anymore information is needed, just let me know.

Hello Marcus,

Is your computer plugged into the wall or a power strip? And the HDD, is it also around 6 years old?

Thanks,
Kolton

Yes the hard drive is about that old but it is not the problem. I switched everything back to my old case. Now it is working just fine. The only thing i can figure is that the motherboard and such is too old to work with the newer case.

There's no such thing as new cases causing that kind of problems, seems you are not fitting the mobo correctly into the new case, making it to have contact with the case in some point, are you sure you placed correctly all the standoffs in the new case before placing the mobo in it?

Hello,

I would have to agree with RaDiKaL_, the motherboard must be touching somewhere on the case, which is causing it to shut down.
