I will be living abroad where the internet connection is not fast. I will have computers connected to the internet where I am currently living here that I will remotely connect to. I often need to change my IP address by first changing the MAC Address on my router and then power cycling the router and modem. Since my internet connection will go down after I change the MAC Address remotely, is there a product or solution that can still power cycle both the modem and router after the MAC Address has been changed? It takes approximately one minute to change the MAC address on my router and the internet will be disconnected during this time.

The device you want is called a PDU. There are simple power strips that also have a remote control feature. If you had the simple request to reboot a port I know of a number but to say tell it to reboot a port in say 5 minutes that I don't know. I know we have some very fancy rack PDU from APC that can cycle port in a certain order at a certain time of day but they are expensive. If you had a machine on the internal network that was using local ip addresses you might be able to run a script from the machine after a delay that would tell one of the cheaper power strips to recycle a port.

Thank you - I will look into a PDU as I need one that the sockets are horiz vs the normal vert. This has happened twice and the need to reboot has fallen at the worst times, perhaps this will do the trick :) By the way, what is it to just manually reboot a port?
