What is the minimum wattage power supply that can run:
Radeon R9 270
AMD Octacore FX-9590 Oem AM3+ Black Edition
8 Gigabytes of DDR3 1600 MHZ Ram(4x2)
Asrock 960GM-VGS3 Motherboard
Seagate 1 Terabyte Sata3 Hard Drive.
Please give the minimum so that i can make assumptions based on features and price.
I do not own some of these parts yet, but i plan on buying them to upgrade my pc, and its a $400-$500 budget.
Thanks,Ethan.

600w would be a good fit. You could probably go lower, but units lower than 550w are generally not built as well and are not sufficiently less in price, to any extent making it worth the tradeoff. Seasonic, XFX and EVGA (Some models) all make great and affordable power supplies. You want something Tier 3 minimum, and preferably Tier 2B or higher. With the TDP of that CPU plus your card, 600w would be the minimum I'd recommend. Here is the tier list. I'd stay away from the Tier 3 units with that setup, especially if you plan to game or overclock. The 620w Seasonic M12 II would be a good fit as would any of the 600w XFX units. If you have any plans to add a bigger GPU card or a second card, later, you might even want to consider going...

That board isn't compatible with a 9590.

Your choices for the 9590:

ASRock 990FX Extreme9
Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z
Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0
Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 R4.0
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD7
MSI 990FXA-GD80V2

AMD.COM

Warning: This power draw of this CPU is almost twice that of the average CPU. Due to this, AMD recommends using at minimum a 1000W power supply. For cooling, AMD recommends using either either closed loop liquid cooling or full system liquid cooling.

Your sources are wrong. :D

That board doesn't even support a 125w CPU.

Would it be a good idea to buy an Extreme3?
Ive read some reviews on it and it seems to be pretty good.
I might drop down to the 9370, to keep within budget.
I'll scratch the radeon, because i already have a gtx 650, and get the mobo and the 9370.
That a good plan?
Maybe get a 600-700m watt psu also.

Would i really need a 9000 series, because the asrock 960gm-vgs3 supports up to an fx-8300, which is an 8 core cpu also.
Would i really need as much power as a 9000 series has for games like battlefield and warthunder?
I would probbably save alot of money that way right?

If the Blackbird says it's so, it's so. Pretty much period. And that includes my failure to pay attention to the CPU being a 9590, so, my bad on that. I was, mistakenly, thinking you had compatible setup configured there just going off the board, in which case it would have been a 95w cpu, and my suggestion on the PSU would have been valid. My bad. Listen to the Blackbird, he knows what's up and he's not a senior mod for no reason.

I do have to ask though Blackbird, is that AMD recommendation on the PSU of 1000w with ANY GPU card or only ones with say 500w and up requirements? Are they saying that cpu with an R7 240 or something with an equally low TDP still recommends a 1000w unit? I can't find anything on the AMD site that says more than that the TDP is 225w. Same with the specs on the vendor sites. I have no doubts as to your accuracy I was just hoping you could point me to that page for future reference and some apparently needed educational reading.

That is from the AMD site , you can get by at around 850w with a decent setup spec wise.I would never get into the 9000 series way to hot , and I have my 8350 at 5.2ghz. with decent temps. The 9000 series setups are usually very unstable , even with the high end cooling and power.

Do you have a link to that you can pass on? I looked all over their site and couldn't find anything other than the FX model comparison listing it at 225w TDP. I don't know why they can't make things easier to find on their website like Intel does. Every CPU has it's own specifications page easily found via google but apparently not theirs. On another note, what I knucklehead I am, telling him a 550w. I totally looked right past it being a 9000 series. I swear for some reason I saw it, but mind interpreted it as an E version 8000 series. Glad you caught it.
