Hi guys, i bought a new computer with 4790k and a corsair h105 cooler and the temps seem to be a little bit high.
In idle: 40 C
Farcry 3: 62c
Prime95 blend test: 65 C
Prime95 small fft`s: 100 C
Aida64 FPU test: 90 C
Is it normal?
On the Small fft´s and fpu test the fans get really noisy and the temps are high.

go into your bios, and turn up your cpu fans to "performance"

Yeah, Id say that's high. What are you clocked at? You sure its seated correctly? Thermal paste? What case do you have it in?

The case is the nzxr h 440, its on 4,4 Ghz.
The thermal paste its the pre applied on the h105.

What voltage, Im guessing its too high.

1,2406.
I never overclocked the computer, the 4,4 Ghz is with turbo boost

Ah, I see. I would reseat the block. Make sure to evenly screw it down, crossing from corner to corner when tightening. Unless you have a hot running chip, you should see better temps. Dont worry about reapplying the thermal paste, just check that it spread nicely.

Ok, I will do it tomorrow, its 3:30 am on my country, its a little bit late. Thx you for replaying, tomorrow will post the results

My 4790k with evo 212 is avg 40-45c on 1%-20% load and around 55c playing league
but cs go takes it up to 70-80c after 1hr of play, the highest recorded temp of my pc today was 81c at 1.20 v max. Is that normal? my case if bitfenix neos
but it seems like ur temp and my temp are similar.
Whats the actual avg temp of 4790ks with a stock cooler?

When i play cs:go it doesnt go higher than 65 c

whats your setup? I have dual monitors, running cs go at max everything 1080p with league client and abunch of browser tabs open. Idk why but my second core runs around 2-5c hotter than the other cores

Those two cores are getting the most use as CS probably wont access quad cores. I have yet to try the 4790k, but I have run 4770ks and with smaller h2o kits with better results. Be sure you have adequate air flow in the case too. I recommend using core temp to monitor temps on new builds, bench using intel burn or other stressful app and make sure temps are in line. I dont like to see 80c temps, ever. To be honest, although I have a few h2o kits laying around the lab, I am running at CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO right now in a Silverstone FT03. My temps at the moment in the mid 20s C.

Yea so idk whats wrong, p95 sfft test and blend tests both reach 90-100 degrees. It crashed when I had stock cooler but now it seems stable for the few seconds i did put the test on with the evo 212. Im pretty sure there was no mounting problems or thermal paste problems.my idle temps are 35-40 degrees in a 25c room. Are they not supposed to be that high? My old phenom 2 x6 ran at a constant 50 degrees and went up to 60c on load. Ive never used a haswell chip nor did I ever use intel so I have no idea if I actually did something wrong

I ran intel burn in standart and went to 90c max

Those p95 tests do run things hot as does intel burn. That is never a real world example though. Just a test for stability and function. Run Core Temp while you run games and see what happens. Like someone mentioned, you will probably see closer to 60-70 being realistic.

I just ran Intel Burn Test I it never went above 66C. Im at 4.2ghz at stock voltage. Its a Ivy bridge too which is not as efficient as Haswell.

I use core temp to watch the temps of my cpu, Both cs:go and far cry 3 are on the 65c mark. my problem is the 100 iam getting on prime95 and 40c on idle when i see people on the 25c

hmmm @miguelmarao, you have the 105 watercooler right? my tests with 212 evo are
90c
94c
92c
86c
My second core runs hotter than any other core even if its under the least stress. is there something wrong with my cpu? My computer is pretty stable and I dont really see any blazing temps during gaming but I just dont know if I didnt something wrong or if my cpu is faulty

66c with burn in
I guess there must be something wrong with my build then hmm

Or do you perhaps live in an igloo?

Just thought of something. Be sure your pumps are getting the full 12v. Fans can be varied. Run them as fast you can without causing distraction.

Yes ive a h105, 1 core is always a little bit hoter but the 4 core is always cooler

How do i control the pump?

hmm then it would mean that there is a temp difference between cores in haswell, or it could mean that both our cpus are defective

There will be differences between chips. The last two cores run cooler as they are most likely used the least. To control the pump, to into your BIOS and run the fan port it is connected to at full speed. You could also wire it straight to a 12v molex connector.

I just tested 3dmark test and the highest temp was 74 and cpu avged around 50c. Maybe because it was gpu based, but arent most games gpu based? what other tests should i do?

Yes, but some games use more cpu than others (stragegy, mmo, etc). If you are in the 70s while gaming, I think that is great. Cha fan 3 is the fan header you are using. Be sure in the settings to have that at a full 12v for the pump. Nice board by the way. Go to Guru of 3D and search through their benches, but if I can run Intel Burn test all night long with no failures or throttling, I would call that a success.

Intel burn in standar or extreme?

Standard should be fine. Feel free to try them both, but be sure your Corsairs fans are spinning on high.

Its because off the haswell Cpu´s, they dont do "well" on this types of torture test
