Gigabyte GTX970 fits in Bitfenix Prodigy?

Hi,

just to check whether anyone had fix in a Gigabyte GTX970 into a Bitfenix Prodigy case?

I'm quite worried that the card might not be able to fit in due to the length of the card.

Although the case states that it can take in a 320mm card while GB card is at 312mm, I've read somewhere that i will not be able to use the 200mm fans at the front.

And also, will a 150mm fan solve the problem?

I know bitfenix Prodigy case is quite a popular casing, hence, will like to know if there are any owners out there with the same issue?

It will fit but as you mentioned, you will have to do a small bit of moving. The front case fans are 25mm thick, and take that from 320 only leaves you with 295mm, hence the reason why the front fan will not fit.

You will need to do the below for the card to fit also -

The case already has one 120mm fan at the front which has to be removed, as it will prevent the card from fitting.

With the cooling, just install a 230mm fan at the bottom, that will solve the cooling issue. Hot air rises so having cool air being pushed straight up to the card is a great solution.

Do you mean 295mm? and my fan at the front is a 200mm fan, and yes, that had to be removed including the HDD case.

I'm not sure what you mean by installing a 230mm fan at the bottom, do u have more details? as at the bottom of the case, there isn't any places for me to slot in a 230mm fan.

Oh yes, accidentally presses the 1 instead of the 2 :)

With the fan on the bottom, I as looking at the front. Add the 120mm fan to the top and add one to the back, if you can fit a 120mm fan in the higher region at the top at the front, I would also do that.

haha. no worries.

which means i will have to install a fan on top blowing the air outwards.

if i swap out the 200mm fan to a 150mm fan, will it be able to fit?

Though i feel taking out the 200mm fat is quite a waste as the fan really kept my whole case temp down.

And i wanted a gigabyte 970 instead of other brand although other brands were much much shorter.

as long as it does not obstruct the graphics card, yes. I am sure it will not fit though.

With the 200mm fan, you can always use cable ties and find somewhere to mount it where there isn't mounting holes. i did the same thing with m HAF X, a 120mm fan in the front behind the 5.25" bays, a 140mm fan behind that pushing air straight to my NH-D15, 140mm fan attached to HDD cage allowing cool air to blow straight to the graphics cards. As you can see from the image I linked, at the top i reckon you have the ability to make use of the 200mm fan, by using 4 cable ties which are tensioned from the back to the drive bay.

so you mean you mount the fan externally? i shall try around the 200mm fan and get a 120mm or 150mm fan to give the case more air ventilation.

too bad the 200mm fan was abit too thick.

or can i swap my rear case fan with the 200mm fan? LOL! i dont think i can though.

200mm is rather bulky anywhere in the case.

That's not what I mean about the rear, That was a suggestion only if you wanted to make use for the fan, and for added exhaust ventilation. I would personally mount fans in the HDD/SSD bays themselves below the card, to allow better ventilation to at least 2/5 of the card.

will go back and play around to see where can i slot in the 200mm fan. It will be a waste if im not able to use that monster. just need to wait the gpu stocks to come in and i will order it.

right now is still worrying for nothing. haha

I can confirm that the Geforce Gaming G1 GTX 970 fits in the Bitfenix Prodigy. After installing I found that I had about 1.5 inch of room between the end of the card and the end of the case. So there would still be room to put a 230mm fan up front.
