Does RAM speed matter when overclocking?

that's fine. for the most part, overclocking ram isn't going to get you night and day different results. just make sure you scale it properly.

Overclocking your RAM will not make a difference in computer speed. As far as gaming goes, overclocking the CPU won't make much of a difference either...

It used to be with the LGA775 boards, you would overclock by raising FSB and the RAM speed would also go up.
There was often a divider setting for the RAM but the next divider setting might be too much. So with the old style boards
where you OC by increasing the FSB, faster RAM might get your some extra headroom.
But with modern boards you increase the CPU multiplier instead of the FSB so it doesn't change RAM speed.
In other words it might help to have faster RAM while OCing old boards/CPUs but with a modern board it won't gain you anything/
