Hi, This is my first post here, I hope I have posted it in the right spot. I recently built a new PC over the last few months, acquiring parts as I get the money.

My build is as follows:

ASUS Z87-PRO
i7-4790K
GeForce GTX 770 2GB
Corsair Carbide 300R
WD 1TB Hard Drive
Corsair TX 650w
2x2GB GSkillz Ripjaw RAM

I also have a 240GB SSD (Crucial M500) but i have not installed it yet as I still need a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter.

Basically, when I'm playing certain games, the cpu temp sometimes reaches over 80 degrees Celsius, and the computer has crashed a few times because of it. All I have installed are the 2 fans that came with the case, and I am wondering what I can do to lower the cpu temp, not only to prevent further overheating, but also to protect my new hardware.

I've thought about some Cougar Fans (These) but I have read in a few places that replacing the case fans barely reduces temperature. My case says it has room for 4 fans, should I maybe just buy two more and that will fix it?

I've also thought about liquid cooling, but it would be my first time, and of course it would be a lot more money to invest.

Thank you in advance for any answers.

-Riley

Here is a 140 x 25mm PWM fan for the other front fan port of your case. An $18.99 Cougar fan as you specified. Those items should help you cooling problem greatly.

All you really need for fans is an intake and exhaust. Doubling up on exhaust can help too. I have used both types, lotso fans and only one on the radiator. In the right case, they worked well. I recommend the CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO as they best value in cpu coolers. h2o is easy and affordable these days with aio kits. CoolerMasters Seidon is usually cheap at Newegg.com and works well for what it is.
