Hi,
Have an old Dell Inspiron 6000. Yesterday I did a clean install of WinXP Pro with Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG. When I installed the OS, it was missing a bunch of drivers ie:network controller, LAN, wireless, video, audio etc. The typical ones when you install from a non OEM disc.

I installed the correct drivers in the correct order. After that, wireless would not configure. Ended up manually entering Static IP, Gateway, DHCP and DNS addresses and verified they are correct.

Now I get a notification saying i am connected to xxx network and the wireless icon lights up but two things are happening: I loose "connectivity" after a minute or so ( red X on wireless icon)then it reconnects immediately. This happens continuously. When it is connected and I go online, I get "the page cannot be displayed(cannot find server)".

Pinging the default gateway times out. Pinging other nodes gives "request timed out, hardware error, hardware error, request timed out"
same condition in safe mode with networking

I have reinstalled the drivers, reset the adapters, deleted the winsock and winsock2 keys in the reg, disabled the firewall, disabled the Wireless Zero Configuration , verified all TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, UDP, POP etc setting were enabled. I even re-did the install thinking it may be corrupt.

What else can I look at?

Prior to install, was running XP Home with no connectivity issues.

Thanks!

It is a 32 bit system. I looked through that last night but couldn't find anything of value for my issue in there. The laptop has not been online sine the new os was installed so there is no issue of malware. Since my original post I have done some other common steps to solve the issue: adjusted the Power Management to highest, adjusted Transmit Power to highest, deleted and rebuilt the WMI Repository, set mixed mode protection to CTS-to-self and enabled, , installed SP3 for XP Pro (had some fixes for this issue that could be caused by SP2), disabled DHCP. None of these things had any effect. I switched control of the wireless to the os vs using the Intel 2200BG and that has had no effect either. Actually that is not correct, the disconnect/reconnect cycle time has decreased to just a few seconds after switching. I have multiple screen shots of the diagnostic report and settings but I don't see an option to insert them. Any help would be appreciated.
