Hello folks,

I recently bought a desktop, a HP Pavilion Desktop 500-336 which was on sale recently. I already had an EVGA NVidia GEForce GT610 2GB graphics card which I was thinking of installing in this PC.

However, when I did, the monitor refused to turn on. I can't even get into the BIOS. Any suggestions? FYI, it comes with an AMI BIOS.

The full specifications of the PC are listed here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c04345595&lc=en

And here are the specifications of the Graphics card: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-610/specifications

Thanks in advance

Can you get into BIOS without the graphics card? Try looking for the settings where you can select what graphics you want to choose (Integrated or PCIE/Dedicated). There should be an option in there. If that doesn't work, you can try pulling the BIOS battery while making sure that the Desktop has no power or is unplugged from the wall outlet. This will reset the BIOS settings.

Also, I know this may sound like a dumb question but did you make sure that your monitor cable is connected to the graphics card and not to the motherboard graphics port? Some people did that and ran into issues.

Thanks. I can get into the BIOS without the external graphics card as the desktop also has an integrated graphics card. However, I don't see an option for choosing the PCIE graphics card in BIOS settings.

As far as your second question is concerned, I have connected the cables to the dedicated graphics card.
