So my laptop that I've been using for a while now died and I built a desktop that became my main computer now a while ago. In the summer I replaced the bad hard drive in the laptop and got it back up and running again. I took it to class last week to take notes and nothing went wrong I was really excited to finally have a purpose for my laptop. However this week I took it into class and it would not start up at all. This is an issue I've had previously as well, however I figured out that previously it wouldn't start up because of wi-fi connection issues. It would only start up if it was connected to wi-fi... strange but then the hard drive died. Today I had a windows update and before that it wouldn't start up... after the updates I would be lucky to get it to turn on for 10 minutes before it suddenly turned off or gave me the grey stripes.

I'm thinking that this is a Windows 7 issue and gonna try a fresh install but anyone else have any ideas as to what this could be?

Update: I uninstalled Windows 7 and reinstalled it again.... I don't get the grey stripes but it just absolutely refuses to start up... I think this is a Driver issue as I ran checks on my hardware and nothing was wrong there. I have the drivers from the Manufacturer's websites and I think some of them are causing the bad bootup.
