Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade my PC, I have 1333mhz rams currently and I want to get a 2x4GB of GEIL POTENZA PC1866 CL 9, will my MSI B85M-E45 handle it ? my friends using same motherboard with same RAM and they said that it'll handle it without problems well I don't believe them because of this: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/B85ME45.html#hero-overvie...
they said it support 1600 only ? or will it support 1866 too ?

Best regards

Yep it will, you'll just need to enable XMP from BIOS to run the sticks at stated speeds, no issues there :)

Thanks for the reply sir, but what do you mean by "it'll run at stated speeds" ? you mean it'll run at 1600 instead of 1866 ?

Maximum speed that this mobo supports is 1600MHz. 1866MHz RAM can be run on this mobo but you won't be able to get 1866MHz speed due to mobo's limitation.

By default, RAMs run at 1333MHz which is default speed. By enabling XMP on this mobo, you would get maximum 1600MHz speed not 1866MHz.

Yes, it'll run at 1600MHz unless you enable XMP, select profile 1, and set the speed as 1866MHz and timings as stated on the stick, its really just a matter of the click of a button.
