Hi techies - normally ok with this stuff but struggling a bit on this one...

Just tried to install a new GTX 980 in my machine. All seems fine and dandy; lights up like christmas, no error beeps, all sounding normal.

It reaches the Motherboard splash screen then sticks there for an age before flicking onto a black DOS-style screen with a cursor and no movement past that point.

Previous graphics card (GTX 670) worked fine before, and works fine after attempting the new install.

I don't seem to be able to do anything while the motherboard splash screen is on either - doesn't respond to any actions to reach BIOS or boot screen etc.

Any ideas? Any more info required from me?

Cheers!

Things I've tried so far:

* New graphics card in all PCI slots

* Ensured new graphics card was slotted in correctly in all slots, and power connectors connected.

* The old graphics card afterwards - works fine

* NO graphics card... Although I have no on-board graphics, it booted to windows fine (could hear it through speakers)

* Tried removing MB battery. When booting with NEW graphics card, still get same MB splash screen - unresponsive for all the options. With OLD graphics card, gives the cmos error and asks to load default settings.

* Removing and switching out RAM sticks. Still the same.

* Absolute certain the PSU can handle the card (Corsair 1050hx)

I've managed to fix it. I never thought to update the BIOS and that sorted it no problems!
