Hi guys,
I've been thinking about building a PC for the first time and I just wanted a few bits of advice.

I was thinking about the following components:

CPU: Intel i7-4790K
Motherboard: MSI Z97I Gaming AC Intel Z97
RAM : Kingston HyperX Impact RAM Module - 16 GB (2 x 8 GB)
Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 970 (maybe 2X in SLI)
Case: NZXT
Hard Drive: 1 Crucial MX100 512gb SSD
Hard Drive: 2 WD Blue 1TB
Heatsink: Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3

I was just wondering:
1) Are there any glaring compatibility issues with these proposed components?
2) Has anyone got any recommendations about which iteration of the GTX 970 I should go for?
3) What size power supply am I going to need?

I'm going to be using this rig for gaming mostly, I don't know anything about overclocking but I was going to read up about it once I've got everything set up.

As I said, completely new to this so literally any advice you've got would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there!

With that processor you won't need to overclock manually for a while (if you're going to be using your rig for gaming). As long as Turbo is enabled in the bios, it will overclock itself upto 4.5GHz which is more then enough!

Cooler: I'd go for the Dark Rock Pro 3 instead of the Dark Rock 3, better cooling performance and isn't that much bigger then your current cooler chosen

Motherboard: If you're planning SLI in the future you'll need a Micro-ATX board as Mini ITX only has 1 PCI-E slot. So in the parts list breakdown I've added the Micro-ATX board instead.

1. No compatibility issues with your current setup.
2. I use EVGA type video cards (currently GTX770 and it works perfectly, no issues setting up, no crashes & excellent customer support) so I'd recommend those.
3. I'd recommend the EVGA Supernova G2 750W PSU as it's Gold certified and fully modular too so it can aid towards excellent cable management. If you're planning SLI then go for the 850W version or higher.
