Heya guys just need some advice on which gpu to purchase !
I currently have a gtx 670 and i do game on the Asus Rog Swift 2560x1440p monitor.
I have seen the new GTX 900 series and cant decide which version would be more suitable for 1440p gaming.

The 970 is half the price but will it be future-proof for 1440p or would the 980 be a better option?

GTX 980 is 10-15% better than 970 while being 50-60% more in price, not worth it if you plan to SLI in future, but if don't plan to run dual GPUs anytime soon, 980 makes sense for those extra frames you'd get. I'd personally SLI the 970s, it'd kill a single 980 in every possible way :)

the 980 is the supereior card of the two so it would be the logical choice of the .. it should be better at the games than 970

Logical in terms of performance but not logical in terms of value.

980 vs 970 - FPS for many games at different resolutions. Although the 970 is about half price, you could also pick up another to SLI and blow the 980 out of the water. SLI has improved over the years but you'll always have a little bit of scaling issues. I'd SLI the 970s if it were me. However, you'll have to see if your current power supply can handle two cards.

The problem is i cannot support sli currently without changing a few parts in my system which i don't plan on doing at the moment so i am wanting a single card option. :)

Well then, assuming you'd not upgrade anytime soon (the other parts), I'd go for GTX 980, just for the sake of those extra 10 frames :)

Great ! Thanks for all your help guys ! :D  Just one last question in regards to the 980 i have my eye on two cards they are the exact same price and same clock speeds, i just cant decide which brand, normally i would go outright for the EVGA card but im pretty sure i heard that they haven't done a good job on the 900 series (something to do with the fans or cooling) ?! i will link them both for you http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX...

Nope, EVGA ACX 1.0 was faulty design wise, 2.0 is awesome, feel free to go with EVGA :)

Ahh ok awesome :)  that problem was only for the 970's then i am guessing? However i actually prefer inno3d's design this time around :p

Yep that issue was only with 900 series. Inno3D is fine, but I'd get EVGA over it, performance wise, or you can better say out of trust for making great cards.

ACX 2.0 to be precise don't suffer from issues, and fyi, the link you posted is of 2.0 so you wouldn't get ANY issues :)
