I was thinking about running my PC on my TV downstairs for fun. Would it run smoothly and look good? I've hooked up older laptops and it was kinda odd choppy and the mouse was hard to move around. Any reason it wouldn't work well?

The TV is a 55 inch Samsung smart tv

My system is -
CPU i7 4790K
GPU GTX970 MSI Gaming
RAM 8GB DDR3 1833
SSD Samsung 840 EVO
HDD WD 1TB
MOBO ASUS Z97A

I use a similar setup for my media center. It will be fine. Make sure you're using the right cables though, like HDMI.

Set the PC's resolution to match your TV. On your TV, disable processing. Most TVs have a 'game' mode.

I suppose its a 1080p.
At 1080p your PC can play any game at max settings smoothly , and also some new games to come.
It does not matter whether its a tv or monitor.

So the reason for mouse to be hard to move around was input lag. Larger the screen the more time they take to process the image. So there may be a gaming mode or settings to turn off effects which increase the time of image processing.
