playing games like battlefield 3 and 4, dead rising 3, mostly new games.

Current setup:
Core i3 3220 3.3hgz dual core
EVGA gtx 650ti 1GB 128bit
8gb 1333mhz ram
500 watt psu
msi h61m-p20 g3 motherboard

what will boost my gaming performance the most? 750ti or 760? the 760 being the most expensive card i can fit into my budget.

thanks in advance

GTX 760 would be a nice upgrade, 750 Ti would not be worth the upgrade over its last gen. But what exact model is your PSU? 500W is fine, but 650 Ti is 110W TDP while 760 is 170W TDP, so the PSU might not be able to give out enough power to the GPU if its not good enough.

GTX 760 is stronger than the 750 Ti and the GTX 650 Ti,but the i3 will bottleneck the 760,especially in new games.
I wouldn't get anything to be honest.
The 750 Ti is indeed stronger, but I would never upgrade from a 650 Ti to a 750 Ti.
I would start upgrading your PC piece by piece.
CPU and MoBo first,PSU second and then GPU.

It's always a good idea to talk power supplies in GPU upgrades. However, 500W is what Nvidia recommends, which means that pretty much any 500W PSU, as well as efficient 400W units will be fine. But you're right, check anyway.

Also, what's your budget? You might not be aware that the 760 just got a decent price cut down to 220 USD.

The i3 is almost a perfect fit for a GTX 760. It'll be very fast for dual-core games, and the hyper-threading helps in multi-threaded situations. For 95% of games there will be no bottleneck. The GPU is the first thing to upgrade. The PSU is fine.

i3 will not bottleneck 760 in first place, unless we're talking about 2-5 FPS gain. Yep 760 would be nice, the PSU is great quality :)

yeah, but overall i dont like amd that much. I have nothing against them, and i know amd has better cards than nvidea, but i just dont really... you know, "trust" them.

yeah well we all have our own opinions... but all my friends always keep on complaining about the AMD's temperature problem... that AMD components always give off more heat.. is this true?
And yeah, so gradually with all the complaints, i gradually grown up to not wanting to buy a amd component

There was a heat problem with the r9 290/x line, but most aftermarket coolers should keep it within safe operating ranges.

I own a HD 7950 which is the same card as the R9 280 and have zero heat problems.

The cards perform similarly, but the 760 does have some nice features which AMD can't offer such as shadowplay and PhysX.

Since the 760 prices dropped due to the new 900 series release, go with the 760.

Yeah but like I said. The R9 280 may be a bit better, but its a little bit more pricey... not by much... And i prefer Nvidia over AMD

Hey everyone.. so i bought the 760... and....

Current specs:

MSI Nvidia GTX 760 2GB 256bit twin frozer
8gb 1333mhz ram
500 watt psu
msi h61m-p20 g3 motherboard

Games FPS at maxed out settings:

Battefield 3: 100+ (Never drops below 100)
Battlefield 4: 80+ (Never drops below 80
Dead rising 3: 60... (I think the games is capped at 60, cuz its a constant 60)

Yep, very nice results with your i3 and 760.

You could lock the framerate to a solid 60 fps on bf4/3. If you're using a 60hz refresh rate monitor you can't see any fps past 60.

October 3, 2014 4:53:02 AM

yeah i dont get it.. people always say you cant see past the refresh rate... but you can. only thing is, if your fps is to high above the refresh rate, the graphics start to "tear"... but only when your fps is like 200+.. i dont have that problem luckily
