Hi All,

I'm putting together a gaming computer shortly and will be needing a way to access the internet. The router/modem thing is on the main floor of my house and the new system will be placed upstairs where I am currently typing on a laptop. Running a wifi speedtest gives me 3mbps download speed, roughly 22mbps less then what I'm paying for. I am in a predicament, I know absolutely nothing about networking, however I have looked up powerline adapters and they seem promising.

Are they good for gaming and heavy internet use?

Do I have any other options? if not what powerline adapter should I get? I live in Canada and I would like to get the most bang for my buck though I don't have a budget.

thanks

Powerline adapters are beter then wifi for gaming. They have come a long ways since the first generation a few years ago.

If you are directly above the router you might find a local company that can run an ethernet cable up the wall for you. Using the proper drill bits/tools for it, it is not hard at all to go straight up the same wall.
