So I was wondering what you guys think about using an a10-7850k with say an r9 285(/285x when available) for a gaming rig. Then upgrading the GPU only when the 300 series comes out in 2015. So should I go fx6350 or a10 7850k

Yes dont waste your money on APU its for budget build and if u want a real gaming rig then go for AMD's FX CPU and couple it with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 or AMD's Radeon R9 285.

An apu(a10-7850k) will be a waste since your getting a gpu and apus are used for their integrated gpu which is better than normal cpus and are used in a low cost non gpu build. Get a fx6300 to get the most processing power and to get the best out of your build cause the APU may also be a bottleneck fot the 300 series gpu.
