I'm trying to decide between the i5-4690k and the Xeon 1231 V3.

According to http://www.cpubenchmark.net/, the Xeon is 25% better than the i5 at about the same price.

What would be the good/bad reasons to choose the i5/Xeon?

All I'm going to be doing is playing games and occasionally making websites/trying to learn C#.

i suggest the xeon. overclocking just raises up heat and electricity bills. the 3.4-3.8ghz of the xeon are more than enough for nowadays and future games. plus you got hyperthreading. and you probably want that feature cause games are likely to be developed using it since the consoles run with 8 core cpus. so hope for new games supporting 4 or more cores :)
