Any way to save my GPU?

Okay so this problem started to arrive a few weeks ago. I first noticed it when playing Wildstar, it had high FPS when it didnt have to load anything new in but it spiked a lot of frames when it tried to load in new things. While I was the only one I know nearby that had this issue. Now I am trying to play Archeage but my computer is heavily underperforming again, nvidia experience says I should be able to handle it with everything on max settings. But I can barely play it on medium. Also it has the same issue as wildstar where it runs perfectly fine if it doesnt have to load in anything at all but it spikes like hell when I try to load in or alt tab and stuff.
But with archeage something changed, crashes started to occur. Like the propper crashes where it shows green blocks all over my screen ( can't remember the official name for those). Also when the game closes, my entire pc just lags a lot for a while. I have to wait a few minutes before I can propperly work with it again.
What I then figured is that I should underclock my GPU in order to prevent those crashes, and yes it worked. But it's still heavily underperforming and I think it might just be dead. My pc is clean from the inside and the GPU reaches about 60 degrees when it's downclocked with archeage on.

So my question is?
Is it really dead or is there some way to save it, since I have no money for a new one at the moment.
My pc specs:
-Nvidia Geforce GTX 570
-4096 MB ram
-Intel Core i7-2600k CPU @3.4 GHz
-Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit

If you allready downclocked the card and the problem is still there, then most likely your card is dying. Sorry... but before you give up on it, try your card in a different computer or borrow a PSU to try with your system. If it works fine, it is most likely your PSU. If the problem persists your GPU is just about dead. What is your current PSU exactly. Make, model, and wattage?

What is the CPU usage and temp when it slows down?

You said you have to wait a few minutes to use it after closing down the game, is it possible the cpu is getting too hot or you have some background programs running?

Does this happen with any other game?

I don't know what ARCHMAGE is... but how about enabling vsync so see if it helps. I say this because maybe the application is outputting too many frames and becoming too hot...? Not sure what else it could be though.

It happened with wildstar as well, and with league it works fine in game but alt tabbing is really slow and my pc is also slow after it closes. I will also test how hot it gets now. And ever since I posted this I'm still not loaded in the game. Not even loaded into the launcher. That should indicate how slow it really is after a game closes.

70c - is this idle or load temp?

Do you have GPU-Z installed?

Easy way to test.
Load GPU-Z
Run the test and watch the sensor tab for heat and load. It should get load up to 99%. What is the temp when the usage is 99%?

Trying to get the game to run again so I can see it. Its still trying to launch but currently sits at 63 degrees with nothing running. Still doesnt launch, pc has been restarted as well. I can't connect anymore, it loads too slow and disconnects me before I can get in >->

Ok so I got the game running and here is what I see:
-Everytime it freezes the GPU Load goes back to 0% for a few second or like really low
-The temperature also spikes when it freezes but the max I saw is 78 degrees
-Thought I dont get the GPU load at 99%, it gets to about 64% with this game.

I did a 99% test, it got above 84 degrees when I decided to shut it down for safety purposes.
Also benchmarked it http://www.ozone3d.net/gpudb/score.php?which=39309

What about memory and hard drive test?

According to - http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-570/specifications - the max operating temp is 95c. So your 84c is ok.

I really don't know what is going on. It would be a waste to spend $$ on a GPU if it isn't a GPU problem.

Maybe someone else can take a crack at it? I am out of answers...

I ask about the memory, because maybe something is faulty.
I ask about the HDD because maybe it is dying...?

The GPU temps look ok.
The CPU temps look ok.

Since it happens to multiple games, we should look at what they have in common... hardware and software.

Software - drivers and possibly OS.

Can you do another install of Windows on an old HDD or something for testing?

I might want to add that I completely cleaned up my pc with a clean version of windows 7 after I had issues with wildstar. But I could install a different one on my external HDD if that could solve it and what version of windows do you recommend. My drivers are up to date.
