Hello,
I am looking at upgrading my GPU and had a quick question.

I am looking at the GTX-980 msi 4G and was wondering if I would be hampering its performance by mounting it on my MB which has only PCI-E 2.0 slots. My current hardware can be found below.

i7-960(first gen)
ASUS P6X58D mobo
x2 GTX 560ti
24GB- tri channel (1600) G.SKILL Ripjaws
Corsair 850W PSU
64 GB SSD for OS
1TB HD

Thanks in advance,
P.M.

They are compatible. Performance shouldn't be affected at pcie x16 2.0. You will be fine. :)

for a gpu it doesn't matter if its pcie 2.0 or 3.0, even the highest end gpu's haven't fully saturated pcie 2.0, if it was a pcie based storage device then it could be a problem, but for gpu's it doesn't matter
