Hi there

I know you're already sick of this question but I'm quite clueless.

I've build a quite decent gaming rig(i7 4770k, 8 GB RAM etc) about half a year ago. I chose a Zotac GTX 760 Amp! as my graphics card. But to be honest, I'm quite unhappy with it. It's fairly loud, super hot and it's even sometimes struggling with just 1080p. But now Nvidia launched their new Maxwell chips and I'm keen to upgrade to a GTX 970.

Right now I'm thinking about a MSI Gaming 4G or the Gigabyte Gaming G1 model. First, I wanted to get the Gigabyte but in regard to its size. Uhm, I'm not really sure. Also, as far is I know it isn't the quietest card, either. The MSI I heard is a great card and should be really quiet but I also heard about some issues with coil whining. Also, It doesn't have a backplate as the gigabyte one but does it really matter?

Based on your experience, which one should I get?

The Gigabyte seems to be the best 970 out there but it's also the most expensive. If your budget allows it I would go with that one.
If you're looking for silence and want to save a few bucks, the Asus Strix looks great too, it would be my second choice.

Both are very good cards/coolers.. Personally i have a GTX 780 Ti MSI gaming ( uses the same cooler I believe ) and i've had it for 10 months now and never had an issue with coil whining - the card is silent even with my adjusted fan curve and a fair overclock ( my fan runs about 10-20% faster than stock settings - still silent).

As long as the Gigabyte one will fit your case i'd say you can't really go wrong with either one. Make sure your case is big enough and then get the cheapest of the two.

there are some problems with evga, and apperantly MSI too. lots of ppl compain about coil whining, which is mostly the fault of a low quality PSU, and on some cards the cooling is a bit bugged. this is either a problem in he vbios which is solvable. or a driver issue, which is solvable aswell. appart from that...this card has the best performance though

I know, but I saw some posts already, and I read up on it and apperantly MSI admitted there "may" be an issue. but there are lots of reports from ppl that say the card is working absolutly fine. Mine will arrive tomorow, and I'll let you know how mine is ;)
I think only a few cards have some flaws though.
which is probably the case with the asus and gigabyte versions aswell.

I also travel a lot with my PC. Can something break if this Gigabyte beast is in my pc? I'd transport it with my car.
