Hi,

Previous Parts:
CPU: Intel Core i7-870 Lynnfield LGA 1156 Processor BX80605I7870
Motherboard: EVGA P55 Classified 200
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

New Parts:
CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E LGA 2011-v3 BX80648I75820K
Motherboard: ASRock X99 Extreme3 LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 2800 (PC4-22400) MemoryModel CMK16GX4M4A2800C16

So I changed my setup to what I enumerated just now. However, my computer now starts to boot, shows the new Windows 8 logo and then I get a BSOD. I looked around and it seems that most solutions are simply a clean install, but I'm wondering if there are any ways not to go that way since I did not took the time to backup my data.

Thank you all for your help.

Since you changed your computer platform, you are better off clean install your windows, to avoid future instability.

Back up data is important. Clone it to another drive, or get a SSD for your boot drive which is faster.
