Hello everyone. I recently sold my PS4 and the games I had for it. The reason I sold the system is because of how expensive the games can be and also because of the fact how big corporations like Sony only care about making money out of people. For instance, my PS3 controller wasn't compatible anymore because Sony chose to do that. Also I had only 2 games for it that I could afford. The first was Infamous Second Son and the other was Killzone. So I played the game Warframe from the day I purchased the PS4. I wanted the system to work for me but unfortunately I had to always watch my budget instead of enjoying playing games.

For this reason, I chose to build my own PC even though I don't know anything about how to build. The reason I wanted to build my PC is because to gain experience so that I can use it in the future for my family members and save them money. My budget started out as being in $1000 but soon rose to around $1500 because I don't want to have to upgrade every 2 years.

The Parts that I bought are in this list below. I haven't included the price and rebates I have gotten yet.

So the only part that I require so far is a graphics card. Now since this is my first build, I wanted advice from the PC pros who know their stuff and all the terms. In my list, I chose the Sapphire 290. So my question is that should I instead get the Nvidia 970 or the Sapphire 290 or should I buy refurbished MSi 290x from Tigerdirect for $186. Please help me anyone.

Get a 970 or a 980 (nvidia) best bang for your buck at this point

well an r9 290x for 186 euros is very cheap... but then again, a gtx 970 is better and has a very good price/performance ratio.
you can also scale down your RAM to 2*4 gigs instead of 2x8. 8 gigs is more then enough for gaming. and then 2 drives of 3 TB is overkill aswell. 3TB will last you for a while. and if you get all the rebates and all. you'll probably have enough money to get a gtx 980 into that budget. and as last. a 1300watt PSU is completely overkill. for a gtx 970 you will have enough with 600. for a 980, i'm not sure...but 650 should be enough. you can go higher. but this will safe some costs aswell

oh, you can also switch the cooler to a hyper 212 evo. or you can go for watercooling if you're into overclocking. if you arent going to overclock, change the cpu to the non K version

I chose the 1300 watts because I got it for $139.99 after rebate plus it came with 10 year warranty. Also I chose the motherboard because I got is for $120. The reason I got two 3GB was because I might record and I have tons of movies

I see, how much money do you have left for a gfx card. you should go for a gtx 970 or 980 if your budget allows you.

Thanks for the quick replies. I am not trying to go over $400. I was looking into GTX970 but most places are sold out of them. Do you recommend MSi 290x? Because TigerDirect will have refurbished MSi 290x in a few days for $186 each. So would you recommend I get 2 refurbished MSi 290x crossfire or 1 GTX970.

well, r9 290x in crossfire will do pretty damn good! but watch out with refurbished items...they were once"broken" so they may have a not so long lifetime. they they mayt also work perfectly fine now.
