So I am downloading a game that is 35gb in size, and says it will take 15 hours to download.
Steam is downloading at 1 mb/s and my internet is 12 mbps(mega bit)
1st, is mb/s mega-bit or mega byte?
2nd, how can I go about improving this, when not patrolling the interwebs?
3rd, Thanks!

Solution
12mbps (megabits) is your internet speed.

You should download at about 1.2 MB (megabytes) per second. (10% of internet speed is a good rule of thumb. so 100mbps internet connection would download at about 10MB/s)

Steam shows you 1mb/s, that is spot on with what your internet speed is.

If you want to improve this, call your ISP. Get more bandwidth.

you should actually download against 1.5megabytes per second( via steam I always download at max speed)
maybe it's downloading more slowly because I assume you are downloading shadows of mordor, like veryone else is?

maximum achievable speed of 1.5 MB/s but usually lower.

I always do 10% because its an easy round number. (1.2 MB/s in your case)

1 mb/s is not bad and i would not worry about that speed, i dont think anything is wrong and you should not be worried.

Call your ISP (or new providers in your area) and see if you can get something faster.
