That DDR3 1600MHz memory is fine. But are you buying a matched pair (2 x 4GB)? You should always use matched pairs in a dual channel memory system to avoid possible timing errors.

IMO - If you're going to buy Micron then get them direct from Crucial (Microns consumer division). Micron also sells its chips to other vendors, not all of them good ones, so you might only be getting micron chips on some generic pcb with no real support or warranty.

I have a 2GB memory stick right now. I was just going to totally repace it with the 4GB one, and just have one stick in the motherboard.

Does it need another stick to work? because my 2GB has been working fine on its own.

No, one stick will work fine. It will just run at the slight slower single channel mode. About a 10% performance loss at most.

I see. Well thank you so much! By the way, if after I install it, and my computer does not start up, that probably means the memory is broken, right?

If all was working fine before you swapped memory, that would indicate something was wrong. Exactly what is hard to say. But defective memory would be a suspect.

What CPU, asking as you may not have one that is capable of 1600, and might be able to save by going 1333 or even 1066 depending on CPU, the 965 3C was the first AMD CPU that could reliably run 1600
