Transferring files between HDD

im getting a new pc for gaming, can i download a game in a external HDD and transfer the full game onto my main pc? how would that work? and if possible can i do it with a laptop(transfer a game from the laptop to the pc directly)?

Not that easy. Most times games and programs install files into the directory and you cannot just copy and paste the files.

Best way is to redownload the games on your new PC. I always try to get steam games. That way they can hold the files for you.

what about if i download the full game into a laptop and dont install? like just have the 20GB file and transfer to the PC?(cause i dont have internet yet but i have my laptop so i can go to my friends house and download there)

This completely depends on where and what you are downloading.

im download games mostly, into my laptop (if i can avoid using a external HDD)

Again, this depends on 'what'.
A game install file? An .exe? Sure....move that over, then install.
A game that somehow installs as you download it? No.

We have to recognize the terminology.
Download and install are two different things.

ohh ok i see what you mean.. i guess it would be an EXE. file.?
say im downloading a game from a torrent (just an example) its 20gb, now i have this folder inside my downloads folder, can i move that folder over from the laptop to the new pc and then install in the new pc? and how would i do that? cause USB wouldnt work right?

'Just an example' = closing this.
1. Do not torrent games, unless the actual publisher distributes them like that.
2. Since very, very, few do, closing this. Assistance with pirating software is strictly against Form rules.
