Just upgraded Win7 Pro to Win8 Pro and then Win8.1 Pro. Utilized the easy way of doing it by keeping my old files, configurations and settings as opposed to starting completely fresh. Now a disk drive error is popping up telling me that the D: drive (I have traditional C: is the system and D: is most working files and programs as my setup) is damaged and that I should back it up and replace it! After looking at my system, I didn’t realize that the System Reserved partition in on my D: drive. This must have been something I did when my original SSD crashed and I replaced it. I was quickly searching for similar problems, but little kids are taking my attention away!

Question: am I able to move the System Reserved partition from D: to my C: drive?

See below for the detailed setup, etc.

Current Storage Configuration:

Crucial M4 128GB SSD and is single partition C:\
Per Disk Management, this drive is Disk 0, Basic, 119.24GB NTFS, Healthy (Boot, Crash Dump, Primary Partition). I have 45GB of free space on my SSD.
Samsung 1TB Spinpoint HD103SJ as my D: drive. It is split into two partitions: System Reserved and MAIN D:\
Per Disk Management, this drive is Disk 1, Basic, 931.51GB. The first “partition” is System Reserved, 100MB NTFS, Healthy (System, Active, Primary Partition). The second “partition” is
Hard Disk Problem notification window keeps popping up instructing me to backup and replace drive D:, the HDD. I have successfully backed off all data that I want.

Again, Is there a way to move the System Reserved partition to the C: drive? This would make my life so much easier as I don’t really need the D: drive and will replace it as soon as possible.

Thank you so much for any help!!

So, I am getting more information on this. Now, I think I am able to download Win 8 Pro from the Windows 8 Setup and create bootable USB media, right? I am really not looking forward to starting with Win 7 Pro install. As I type, my computer is downloading Windows 8.
