Installed my i5 4690k yesterday (switched from FX 6300) did some gaming and saw much better frames than i expected for just an CPU upgrade. Moving on the overclocking.

I set OC tuner to XMP x44 multiplier and 1.2 Vcore with everything else untouched. I ran AIDA64 Extreme, watched it for 30 mins with temps max at 82C then left it overnight but when i woke up my PC had restarted so i guess its not stable. Now i'm down to 4.2ghz with 1.15 Vcore with 30 mins of AIDA64 Extreme max 78C (Corsair H60) & couples hours of gaming.

Should i just try to get a stable 4.2ghz since temps are over 80C going for 4.4ghz?
Is AIDA64 Extreme a reliable stressing?

I would keep at 4.2GHz, yeah. A Corsair H60 doesn't have a whole huge amount of heat dissipation to it, so that'll probably be what holds you back. That being said, 4.5 is still going to be lightning fast on an i5.

Yes, AIDA64 is still a good stress test program.

Thanks. What would be a good Vcore for 4.2ghz? i run AIDA64 for 15 min then lower my Vcore .025 then run again but so for i haven't had any lock ups or restarts at 1.125 with temps @ 70C

As low as you can get it. ;)

Seriously though, asking for numbers or even rough targets won't get you anywhere, because overclocking depends so heavily on the chip you've got.

Alright just did 30 mins @ 1.100 Vcore Gonna do some gaming then run AIDA64 overnight

Update Red Screen Of Death when i tried to play BF4 @ 1.100Vcore

Ah, that's unfortunate. To be fair, 1.1v is awfully low for an overclocked chip. Does it appear to be stable at 1.125, though?

Yeah 1.125 seems like the sweet spot, no more 0x24 BSOD and temps max at 78C & 70C when gaming. Gonna let AIDA64 run for a few hours tonight. For the time being it seems OCCT finds error faster within 5-10 min it BSOD if the Vcore is too low. Played BF4 and couple other games for 6+ hrs and no more crashing!

Hey, that's not bad at all - you'd obviously be able to get those temps down / a more aggressive overclock with a CPU cooler that dissipated more heat, but that's quite respectable for what you've got.

Congratulations are in order, I believe. :)

Thanks for your help! I'll keep my eye on H100i sales later this year.
