What has to be compatible when building a desktop?

Also, how do you know if it's compatible?

Here is my motherboard that I am looking at:

http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-MAXIMUS-VII-HERO-Motherboard...

Here is the graphics card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Here is the Processor:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Here is the power supply:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=17-153-...

Is there anything else I need to look out for? Thanks for your help!

The MB and CPU you've selected are not compatible. The CPU is LGA 2011 while the MB is LGA 1150.

No, that cpu is not compatilbe. You need a 4690k or 4790k. You could run a much smaller power supply too, like a Seasoinc S12 520w which is also much cheaper.
