Hey,
i know that this seems like an old record but i'm kind of lost right now.
Recently my PCIe(x16) slot stopped working (after 2 years to be exact).

This is what happened:

After a regular gaming session my monitor pretty much froze and displayed some kind of
"mosaic". Shortly after my PC shut down. So far so good. I waited for about 30 minutes before turning it on again. It booted up normally without displaying any images. Naturally i opened up my case just to notice that my CPU cooler wasn't running.

I changed the cooler, checked the CPU for bent pins etc and while i was at it, cleaned my case. The Cooler was running again though my monitor didn't display anything.
Because my primary GPU (XFX HD7850) doesn't fit into the lower PCIe slots (small case...), i just used an old nVidia 8800GT to test the slot. No signal. So i put it into the PCIe(x4) slot and Ta-da!, a signal.

I finally had the chance to run some tests on the CPU and update anything that could use an update. The usual stuff. Everything seemed fine so far - so i thought "Well, let's just buy a new board and see what happens..."

Did that - same problem. I'm running out of ideas. =/

Any help is greatly appreciated!

How often do i have to do this though? I checked some of the other (solved) threads and i did find similar issues and cases where RMA was not the answer. Well, i will return it later today (i'm at work right now) and get a new one....again.
Thanks for the answer. :)
