how do you effectively overclock zotac gtx 770 2gb?

I was wondering what program should I use to overclock my zotac gtx 770 2gb. Should I use the bios or a program? I want to play assassins creed with increased performance. I only get around 40 fps. How should I overclock my gpu?
Specs:
Processor- Intel Core i7-4770k
Ram- 8GB
Graphics Card- Zotac GTX 770 2 GB
Motherboard- z97 MSI Gaming 3
Power Supply- CX600M

Use a program specifically for the card. I use EVGA precision X for GPU overclocking, however there are lots of good ones. MSI Afterburner is said to be good too. No reason to use a brand-correct one.

Follow all directions and do it safely. You need to be monitoring GPU temperatures to try overclocking. Thermal ceiling is what really slows down cards.

Every card is different. Also depends on your setup and cooling. Do a tiny bit at a time, stop if you get any screen distortion, heat problems/freezes, etc.

Just do clock rates if you havent done it before. Dont mess with voltage until you know what you are doing.
