what kind of graphic design and what software. an i7 is a safe bet, with design generally more RAM will help (8 GB-16GB or more for 3D). A solid state drive will help A LOT too, so make sure that gets in the budget. Surprisingly for most application the GPU is least important. most important for gaming, but for design it doesn't matter so much. GPU acceleration in most programs helps little, but is nice to have. drawing in some software ( photoshop I think, amongst others) can be accelerated by GPU but a gtx 650ti or 750ti or even a 1GB card will do fine (for designs sake).

certainly a SSD should be a priority. and you can honestly save money here, for most design software you can use an 800$ build and get the same results as a 1500$ build (with the exception of rendering massive 3D design and animation).

for no gaming and just design this build will be better. for gaming AND design the original build by Sammy would work better as it had a stronger GPU (which helps in gaming a LOT but just a bit for graphic design). the 750ti is def capable of light/medium gaming at 1080p or less.
