USB Flash Drive Suddenly "Empty" -- Windows sees it, says working properly, but can't access it.

I used my PNY 32GB flash drive this morning and everything worked fine when I logged off. This evening I plugged it in to the same Windows system and it mounted, but opening it showed no files there, even though there are about 215 total files on it.

Checked on some "recovery" tools and I can't use those since I have no Admin access, and even tried to do an Xcopy of everything to a folder on the Windows machine so I could reformat the USB drive and then copy them back, but Windows says my command is an invalid drive specification (it's not).

So, I'm at a loss of what to do to get access to those files, when I have no Admin rights and the college isn't going to give me that ability at all. And I'm curious to know what would have caused a perfectly working USB drive to suddenly show nothing there at all.

Try plugging your flash drive to a different computer outside from your school campus and find out if your files are accessible at least for you to recover your data.
