The 970 is a better card by a significant amount. It is even better than the 780.

But I've heard a lot of bad reviews on the 970, because the reason it comes so cheap is that they cut edges on it. So it's not as durable. The 760 has pretty decent scores, for it's price. I'd say compare the 670 and 970 instead

a gtx 760 will handle most current games at ultra if you switch off multisampling. I am running bf4 for example at 60+ fps with ultra settings, just multisampling disabled.(capped at 60 but it doesnt drop under the ocasional 54 fps)
noone seems to be mentioning that.
yes a gtx 970 is alot better. but the gtx 760 isnt a bad card neither. but for futureproofing, you should go for the 970.

also, the benchmark scores that tiny voices linked are from a evga gtx 970 against a referance card gtx 760. so the temperatured and noise levels and even the performance depends on the brand.

I'm just trying to give you the full picture here. everyone is screaming 970. and I'm sugesting it too. but I'm also telling you, that if you cant afford it. the gtx 760 is still a good option.

No. There is no reason to buy a 2 generation old GPU. The real direct competitor for the 970 is the 780. don't even consider a 670.

I completely agree, why would you compare to a 670?
i havnt read any bad reviews saying they have cut corners...please enlighten me?
if anything, its because it doesnt use as much power that hey havn't needed to put such robust parts in it, not for the sake of cutting corners.

games will ALWAYS get more demanding and GPUs will always get more powerful. They are both exponential curves.Waiting is pointless. Buy the best GPU for NOW, not the future.

How expensive are the 970s there? I know from my Filipino friends that the Peso - CAD rate is about 38-40 Peso to CAD

I DO NOT recommend buying parts over time. It NEVER gets you the newest or best parts EVER. You WILL get a worse build doing this.

Set a budget, then save for that budget and buy the computer all at one time.

i'm not sure about the tax...cause it varies from a particular item to another...for example the msi gtx 970's price is $359(15437 pesos) US dollars with shipping...i recently know the price here in the philippines it is 20,950 pesos which is $487 US dollars...see the price difference...it is really crazy

i disagree with this. I constantly upgrade my pc, rarely ever buy all the bits at once. One thing i did do, was got the best gaming cpu available at the time (within reason). So my 3570k is a few years old now, we havnt seen much happen in the cpu arena and its still up there with top tier cpu's. Meanwhile ive been through a couple graphics cards, and still my next upgrade will probably be the graphics card again before i update the cpu. Cpu's are a pretty stagnant market at the moment so if i were building id do the same thing again now, invest in one of the higher end cpu's it should last you 5 years, and just upgrade the graphics card as you need it. There is still a good market on ebay for second hand gpu's so you do gain some money back when you get a new card, not to mention every upgrade ive got new games that ive wanted bundled with the card, which has made up the difference. so i almost feel like ive had a free upgrade if i was going to buy those games anyway. not to mention youve always got sli or crossfire options for upgrades, although i promised myself i wouldnt go dual cards again, always have some bugs that annoy me.
